Our Mission

Reconciliation Services provides emergency assistance and therapeutic services to individuals and families in the Kansas City Metropolitan area, who otherwise would ‘fall through the cracks.’ Located in the heart of the city, Reconciliation Services rebuilds community one person at a time by enabling growth, forging connections, and empowering individuals.”

Reconciliation Services is located on Troost Avenue, historically referred to as the racial dividing line in Kansas City.

The vision of Reconciliation Services is to experience life together where every human being is treated as if he or she were Christ Himself.

The vision of Reconciliation Services is to see Troost Avenue transformed into the city’s gathering place, where healing, love, joy, friendship and community grow from the scarred soil of discrimination.

Ultimately Troost will be a village that serves as a community of hope for others in need.

Our Programs

The population served by Reconciliation Services is one that has fallen between the cracks.

Many are people with mental illness who have stopped their medication and refuse to go back to mental health treatment centers. Others have experienced substance abuse issues but are not in treatment. Still others have serious needs but do not fit in any category where they can receive current case management services. Many of those served are homeless. Reconciliation Services has become a safety net for the safety net.

Yet the needs of the individual and family are only part of the picture. The Troost Corridor has suffered from a legacy of racial discrimination, poverty, blight and crime. As a result, the need for community healing is essential to the overall well-being of the individuals and families.

Services and programs include…

  • Individual Emergency Help
    • documents, food, utilities, rent, referrals
  • Intensive and Clinical Case Management
    • “therapists on the go”
  • Therapy for Co-occurring Disorders
  • Groups for Grief, Substance Abuse, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Village Building
    • Troost Folks, Troost Festival, Troost Exhibit
